Native Shrubs
Shrubs have many environmental functions. They provide food and shelter for birds and other wildlife, especially if used in thickets or mass plantings. They also provide some of our favorite seasonal treats: blueberries, raspberries, hazelnuts, and blackberries. Shrub hedges can moderate an areas temperature by protecting it from the hot sun or cold winds. Some shrubs have special relationships with specific insects and birds.
